Joie De Vivre

Stunning little piece called ‘Joie De Vivre’, by Ruth Hogben and via Showstudio, detailing Gareth Pugh‘s A/W 2010 collection, encapsulated in a super stylized ‘Art Deco fantasy projected at breakneck speed into the twenty-first century’, featuring music by Lukid via one of my favorite labels, Werkdiscs. Watch the film here (NSFW)

Chau Har Lee

I’m in awe of innovative shoe designer, and recent RCA graduate, Chau Har Lee. Her AW ’10 collection is full of seemingly impossible structures, and a few that defy gravity altogether. Though at first glance her shoes might seem utterly futuristic, they also feel slightly nostalgic. Could there be a touch of 60′s sci-fi and a smidge of 70′s furniture design? Only Lee can answer that. Hat’s off to the girl for a great break out into the fashion world.

Well Found

Ben Trovato

We don’t post much fashion / editorial photography around these parts, and with good reason, especially when there are people like Maruis Troy doing it so well. His mega-blog Ben Travado (meaning ‘Well Found’ in Italian), is a peepers paradise, with long, sunny beaches of pictorial perfection. I’m not even going to try and post any of Marius’s features here so head on over for a dousing of his inspiration make up.

Glory Scarfs

These scarfs combine three of my favourite things in life, design, fashion and technology. Inspired by nature, science and the Apocalypse, the Glory Scarfs show a spectacular display of colour, pattern and mathematics.

Each one is a mathematically valid fractal, painstakingly created by entering a series of numbers and equations into a computer, creating a potentially infinite variety of form, colour and detail, whilst bringing the skill and technique of handcraft into the digital age.
