Festive Greetings

Human Resources would like to wish you a very Merry Christmas and the best of luck for 2009.

For us personally, it has been quite an amazing first six months and of course this would not have been possible without you. But the fun does not stop there, I’m delighted to inform you that 2009 will be an even more exciting year as our project evolves, and we hope to see you there with us.

As we say in Scotland, slange var!

Devorah Sperber

Devorah Sperber is a New York City based artist who recreates famous works of art using spools of thread. Sperber treats the spools like pixels, recreating the works of Da Vinci, Rembrandt and Van Gogh in detail. However viewers will not see the work until the move up close because most of her work is created upside down. The reason why the spools hang from the wall backwards is so that when reflected in a mirror or metal sphere, they will appear in the correct size and proportion. the reflection also shrinks the images and blends the spools together to create a more accurate representation of the original works.

BB/Saunders

I’m a big fan of the branding work for the British Ceramics Biennial by BB/Saunders (with photography by Jason Tozer).

The images remind me of the of the work of a certain Martin Klimas. Really awesome.

Antony Gormley

I love the stunning sculpture work of Antony Gormley.  The lone figure found above is a statue which stands on the skyline of the National Theatre. This is one of 31 similar statues and is part of one of the largest ever urban public art commissions. ‘Event Horizon’ features sculptural casts of the artist’s body on rooftops and public walkways across central London, dramatically transforming the city skyline.
